Britain's Alice Powell won a dramatic third race of the 2021 W Series season at Silverstone to regain the championship lead in front of her home fans.

The Racing X driver started from pole position, but having lost the lead on the opening lap, she recovered to pass Fabienne Wohlwend of Bunker Racing in the closing stages and take her second victory of the season having won the opening round in Austria last month. Powell finished two seconds clear of Wohlwend as defending champion Jamie Chadwick completed the podium.

Emma Kimiläinen (Ecurie W), Nerea Marti (W Series Academy Team) and Beitske Visser (M. Forbes Motorsport) were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. British quartet Sarah Moore of Scuderia W, debutant Abbi Pulling racing for PUMA W Series Team, Ecurie W's Abbie Eaton and Racing X driver Jessica Hawkins completed the top 10, meaning all six British drivers scored points in their home race.

Powell has taken back the lead of the championship from Chadwick, thanks to her two wins and 54 points to Chadwick's one win and 48 points. Moore makes it an all-British top 3 in the standings, 12 points back from Chadwick, whilst Wohlwend is in fourth on 34 points.

The next round is at the Hungaroring in two weeks time.
