The Bahrain Grand Prix saw Charles Leclerc get his championship battle off to the best possible start, fending off the resurgent Max Verstappen who later retired from the race.

Here is the first Stat Pack of the season, for the Bahrain Grand Prix:

There were 910 days between Ferrari's last race win at Singapore in 2019 and Sunday's victory. This was the second-longest winless streak in their history, the longest being from Spain 1990 to Germany 1994.

Charles Leclerc maintains his record of having only won from pole position. His best finish from further back is second, achieved in Austria 2020 and Great Britain 2021.

This is the first time Leclerc has won the race and also taken the fastest lap point in his career.

Leclerc has also never taken pole at the same circuit twice.

Carlos Sainz has taken back to back podiums for the first time in his career (Abu Dhabi 2021 & Bahrain 2022).

Guanyu Zhou has become the 66th different driver to score at least one world championship point on debut. The last driver to achieve this was Yuki Tsunoda in Bahrain 2021.

Zhou also becomes the first driver from China to score a point in the driver's world championship.

Over 1,000 laps of Formula 1 racing have now been completed around the Sakhir International Circuit Grand Prix configuration. This does not include the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix run on the outer layout. The 1,000 lap milestone was passed on Sunday, with the lap count currently at 1,025.

Lewis Hamilton now has as many podiums as Nico Hülkenberg has career starts. Hülkenberg is still yet to stand on an F1 podium, and added to his F1 record of most races without a podium on Sunday.

Sunday was the first time since the 2007 European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring where Sebastian Vettel did not feature at all throughout the duration of the weekend.

For the first time since the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, both Red Bull cars failed to finish the race, on both of those occasions these non-finishes coming due to an engine problem.

There have now been 34 Formula 1 races to have taken place in the Middle East. (18 Bahrain, 13 Abu Dhabi, 1 Sakhir, 1 Qatar, 1 Saudi Arabia)
